St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 11.30am Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir.

Music List

The termly service music lists include all the Mass settings, hymns and chant antiphons for the choral services at the Cathedral, including Sunday 10am Family Mass and 11.30am Solemn Mass, as well as Easter, Christmas and other special Cathedral services.

Organ Recitals

Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir is made up of boys and girl choristers aged 7 to 12 along with nine professional singers known as Lay Clerks. The Cathedral Choir sings at the Sunday morning 11.30am Solemn Mass and on major events of the year, such as Advent, Christmas, Holy Week and Easter.

Cathedral Consort

The Cathedral Consort was formed in 2019, and is a select group of teenagers aged 13 and upwards, who lead worship at the 10am Family Service through congregational mass settings and SATB motets.
